Job Summary:
The General Ledger (GL) Associate is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company’s general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. This role involves performing journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing processes, and supporting financial reporting and analysis in a global business environment.

Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance:

Maintain and update the company’s general ledger in the ERP system.

Payment application in the ERP system, reconciliation with banks. Collaborate with treasury and other departments to optimize cash flow management and payment strategies.

Post journal entries for routine and non-routine transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
Ensure proper classification of transactions in accordance with the chart of accounts.

Expense Reporting & Analysis:

Oversee the review and approval of employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and tax regulations. Provide guidance and support to the team on complex expense report issues and discrepancies.

Fixed assets:

maintain fixed assets ledger with all necessary actions.


Account Reconciliation:


Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in general ledger accounts.
Ensure all reconciling items are appropriately documented and cleared within specified timeframes.

Month-End and Year-End Closing:


Assist in the preparation and execution of the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Ensure that all required journal entries, adjustments, and accruals are recorded accurately and on time.
Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Financial Reporting:


Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Provide necessary documentation and analysis to support management reporting and external audits.
Support the development and distribution of monthly/quarterly financial reports to management and key stakeholders.

Compliance and Controls:


Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
Maintain and ensure accurate financial records in alignment with global accounting practices.
Support audits (internal and external) by providing necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations.

Process Improvement:


Identify opportunities for process efficiencies in the general ledger function, including automation and optimization of workflows.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline month-end closing and reporting processes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:


Work closely with other finance teams (accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, etc.) to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting.
Collaborate with regional and global finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial data across different entities and business units.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.

Experience:

2+ years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, or a similar financial operations role.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms).
Familiarity with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and financial reporting processes.

Skills:


Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation.
Good understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and controls.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, especially during month-end and year-end close.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools (e.g., financial modeling, reporting, reconciliation).

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a multi-national or global business environment.
Exposure to automation tools (e.g., RPA) or experience with GL-related software.
