Purpose of Role: 

 

The DevSecOps Engineer is responsible for enabling secure, reliable, and automated delivery of applications and services within a global Azure environment. The role exists to bridge development, security, and operations practices, ensuring that solutions are delivered with built-in compliance, operational efficiency, and security best practices.

By managing CI/CD pipelines (including CMS workloads), supporting global operations, and implementing DevSecOps practices, the engineer contributes to faster delivery cycles, reduced risk exposure, and improved system resilience across the organization.

 

Job Role and Responsibilities: 

 

Regional Operational Support

 

  • Provide day-to-day support for Azure and CMS DevSecOps pipelines across multiple regions.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and security of global applications, following regional SLAs and operational standards.
  • Participate in follow-the-sun operations, supporting deployments and incident resolution in collaboration with other regional teams.
  • Escalate and resolve region-specific issues, ensuring minimal downtime and fast recovery.

 

Project Delivery & Implementation

 

  • Contribute to the delivery of global DevSecOps initiatives, including CMS pipeline automation, IaC deployments, and security integrations.
  • Support new project rollouts by building and configuring pipelines, Azure resources, and security controls.
  • Execute migration, upgrade, and patching activities for CMS workloads and supporting infrastructure.
  • Assist in testing and validation during project deployments, ensuring alignment with design and security requirements.

 

Compliance & Documentation

 

  • Ensure all deployments and operational activities comply with security, governance, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC2).
  • Maintain accurate documentation for pipelines, infrastructure, security processes, and incident handling.
  • Support audits by providing evidence of compliance for change management, access management, and security practices.
  • Contribute to improving and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks.

 

Collaboration & Communication

 

  • Work closely with global development, operations, and security teams to ensure smooth and secure application delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different time zones and regions.
  • Provide clear status updates during deployments, incidents, and project deliveries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed DevSecOps best practices into the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing and training sessions to raise DevOps and security awareness within the global team.

 

Qualifications:

 

Technical Skills

 

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services (App Services, Azure Functions, Storage, Key Vault, Networking, AKS).
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform).
  • Experience designing, maintaining, and troubleshooting GitHub Actions.
  • Ability to integrate CMS workloads (e.g.Umbraco, WordPress) into automated pipelines. ·
  • Familiarity with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) for automation.
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) for application deployment and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to work with Helm charts and container registries.
  • Understanding of application security scanning (SAST, DAST) and dependency scanning tools. ·
  • Knowledge of secrets management (Azure Key Vault, GitHub Secrets).

 

Formal Education & Certification ·

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud, or IT Operations may be considered in place of a formal degree. ·
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) – foundation in cloud concepts.– Desirable. ·
  • Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400) or Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)– Desirable.
