JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for accurately identifying vehicle faults and ensuring prompt, effective repairs in line with Toyota/Lexus standards. This role requires advanced diagnostic skills, proficiency in using Toyota diagnostic tools (such as Tech stream), and a strong understanding of vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, and hybrid technologies. The technician conducts systematic inspections, interprets fault codes, performs root cause analysis, and recommends the most efficient repair solutions. In addition to hands-on work, the role involves preparing clear and accurate repair documentation, supporting less experienced technicians with technical guidance, and ensuring all repairs meet Toyota’s quality, safety, and “Fix It Right the First Time” standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Day to Day Operations
-
Responsible for carrying out the servicing requirements.

Follow and abide by the supervision and instructions of his foreman.
-
Finishes work within flat rate time, and in case of delay, inform his foreman.
-
Consult foreman on any existing problem and in case of discovery of additional work, contact foreman for instruction.
-
Perform advanced diagnostic procedures using Toyota-approved tools (e.g. GTS+).
-
Conduct systematic inspections and functional tests to confirm customer complaints and identify root causes.

Retrieve, interpret, and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
-
Analyse data from vehicle systems, sensors, and technical bulletins to determine corrective actions.
-
Prepare accurate repair action plans based on diagnostic findings.
-
Ensure all repairs follow Toyota’s standard operating procedures and manufacturer specifications.
-
Perform complex electrical, mechanical, and hybrid system repairs when required.

Record all diagnostic findings, repair steps, and parts used in job cards or repair orders.

Prepare and submit clear reports for warranty claims, including test results and supporting evidence.

Keep work area organized, safe, and compliant with workshop procedures.

Assist other technicians in resolving challenging technical issues.

Share diagnostic best practices and provide on-the-job training to junior technicians.

Attend Toyota technical training programs to maintain and enhance diagnostic skills.

Keep updated on the latest Toyota vehicle technologies, recalls, and service campaigns.

Keep him updated with Service Bulletins.

Use all protective equipment to maintain the cleanliness of the customers vehicle (seat covers, floor mats, fender covers).

Perform any other reasonable request or work task as allocated by the department manager and other senior management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience

Certification: Must possess at least Toyota Diagnosis Technician Certification.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years in automotive service operations.

Proficient in using Toyota diagnostic equipment (e.g., Global Tech stream [GTS+]) and specialized measuring tools.

Acquired Skills

Experienced in utilizing precision measuring tools (e.g., bore gauge, dial gauge, micrometer, vernier caliper) for accurate assessments.

Strong knowledge of vehicle systems: engine, transmission, braking, suspension, electrical, hybrid, and EV technologies.

Experienced in handling both manual and automatic cars.

Ability to communicate clearly with service advisors, foremen, and Supervisors

Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical bulletins, and service manuals.

Skilled in root cause analysis and systematic troubleshooting.
Licensure
