JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing painting tasks on customer vehicles in accordance with Toyota standards and within the allocated repair times. This role demands precision, efficiency, and a commitment to delivering top-quality finishes without the need for repeat work.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day to Day Operations
- Perform painting tasks on vehicles including light, medium, heavy, and super heavy repairs, following Toyota standards and procedures.
- Prepare vehicle surfaces by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning to ensure proper paint application.
- Mix and match paint colours accurately using computerized systems or manual techniques.
- Operate spray guns and other painting tools with precision to ensure high-quality finishes.
- Complete all assigned jobs within the promised timeframes, and immediately report any delays or issues to the Foreman.
- Ensure zero repeat repairs or back jobs through careful preparation and execution.
- Prevent unnecessary part order cancellations or returns by accurately assessing job requirements.
- Avoid misdiagnosis by performing thorough evaluations before starting paint or polishing work.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the paint booth and work area at all times.
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality standards set by the workshop.
- Other Task
- Perform any other reasonable request or work task as allocated by the department manager and other senior management.
- Quality Control
- Enforce and implement all policies, procedures and systems of workshop operations based on the BP Global Standards/Inchcape Standards.
- Monitor job quality through quality control inspections, comeback reports and complaints.
- Target market development for the periodic maintenance and repair work/target market segments.
- Monitor service shop environmental and safety issues.
- Maintain regular contact with BP Principal (distributor and Inchcape).

- Ensures proper documentation of all receiving activities.

- Assists in monthly inventory counts and reconciliation.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience
- Minimum Education: Certified Automotive Course or relevant technical training.
- Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in automotive painting within the industry.
- Strong knowledge of automotive paint systems, surface preparation, and polishing techniques.
- Familiarity with Toyota repair and paint standards is a strong advantage.
Acquired Skills
- Can carry out surface preparation (substrate treatment, putty application, surfacer application and body sealer application) by his/herself.
- Can carry out color matching of solid color by his/herself.
- Can carry out solid color spraying by his/herself.
- Can carry out masking and polishing by themselves.
- Familiar with basic elements of Paint repair
- Understand the principle behind spray gun and types of spray gun
- Can carry out putty application and purpose of putty application
- Can carry out Primer Surfacer application
- Can identify the paint defects and procedure to rectify defect
- Understand the importance of quality paint repairs.
- Can perform paint repairs in timely manner
- Able to understand job instructions in English Language
