PURPOSE OF ROLE

The Finance System Manager (Systems Accountant) is responsible for overseeing, governing, and optimizing Inchcape’s finance systems from an accounting, controls, and business process perspective. This role acts as the key finance subject-matter expert for system implementations, enhancements, and change initiatives, ensuring that accounting requirements, controls, and integrations are properly designed, tested, and operated.

This role bridges Finance and IT, ensuring financial systems are configured and used in line with accounting standards, global finance templates, and business requirements. The Finance System Manager supports both transformation initiatives and business-as-usual operations, enabling accurate financial reporting, strong governance, and efficient close processes across Inchcape GBS.

JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the Finance system subject-matter reviewer for system implementations and changes, ensuring accounting requirements, controls, and integration impacts are fully considered. 
  •  Participate in system change activities, including review of functional design, testing, and validation for changes impacting Finance processes and reporting. 
  •  Oversee financial system configuration and mapping tables (e.g. GL mapping, posting logic, master data), ensuring alignment with accounting standards and business requirements. 
  • Maintain and review finance user roles and access, ensuring appropriate segregation of duties (SoD) and compliance with internal control requirements. 
  •  Work closely with IT, platform owners, and finance teams to review and assess system changes, enhancements, performance issues, and change requests from an accounting and control perspective.  Provide guidance on efficient and correct system usage when new accounting or business scenarios arise, in collaboration with Global Process Owners (GPOs).
  • Identify opportunities to automate finance processes and improve reporting, leveraging system capabilities and minimizing manual workarounds. 
  • Act as proposed system owner for core finance systems, and backup system owner for non-core systems. BAU Support & Troubleshoot
  • Monitor system integrations (e.g. integration cockpit or equivalent tools) and proactively identify errors impacting financial postings and reporting. 
  •  Work with IT consultants, vendors, and platform teams to resolve system and integration issues in a timely manner.
  • Partner with finance teams to ensure issues are clearly communicated, prioritized, and resolved to support timely and accurate period close.
  • Support root-cause analysis for recurring system or integration issues and recommend preventive controls and sustainable fixes. 
  • Ensure financial systems and configurations comply with global finance standards, templates, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain system-related documentation required for audits, internal reviews, and compliance assessments. 
  • Support internal and external audits by providing system explanations, evidence, and control documentation related to finance systems and configurations. 
  • Ensure system-related controls are designed and operating effectively to support financial integrity and audit readiness. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 6–8 years of finance and accounting experience, preferably in Shared Services, multinational, or complex ERP environments.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS/local GAAP) with ability to translate accounting requirements into system design and configuration.
  • Strong experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and complex finance system landscapes, including integrations.
  • Proven experience supporting system implementations, enhancements, or finance transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, segregation of duties, and audit requirements in system environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with ability to work effectively across Finance, IT, and business teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in root-cause analysis of system and process issues.
  • Qualified Accountant, bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or equivalent.
  • Delivery-focused mindset with strong attention to detail and control orientation.
  •  Experience in automotive, FMCG, or similarly complex multi-entity environments is an advantage.
