Our Finance Team is currently looking for a talented Accountant for Barbados who is responsible for the finance and accounting responsibilities and works closely with the Chief Accountant in establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Reviews monthly cash on hand schedules and observes petty cash count on a monthly basis.
- Reconciles travel expense reports monthly and ensure posting to relevant GL.
- Approves bank reconciliations prepared by Accounting Supervisor.
- Reviews and submission of monthly VAT return bi-monthly.
- Approves supplier reconciliations at month end; investigates old or unusual items.
- Reviews vendor balance reclassification and investigates differences between Accounts Payable and General Ledger.
- Reviews all balance sheet accounts monthly and ensures submission of completed reconciliations to Blackline.
- Approves intercompany reconciliations and ensures that intercompany balances agree with local and central entities.
- Reviews financial results and issues significant variances report to Chief Accountant.
- Completes month-end accounting uploads.
- Complies with internal controls requirements and reporting.
- Provides support as required with external/ internal/ government audits.
- Meets with Accounts/Credit Team to keep abreast of status of ongoing tasks/projects and challenges.
- Manages day to day ad hoc operational requests including staff matters, matters from all profit center managers and matters from Commercial Retail Director, Aftersales Director, Finance Director, Head of Finance, Head of Treasury and administration matters.
We'll make a match if you meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Professional accounting designation: CPA,CGA,ACCA or its equivalent
- At least three (3) years managing a team in a Senior Finance or Accounting role
- Process and deadline driven mindset with a keen eye for detail
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with the ability to use advanced MS Excel functions
- Experience with internal control systems
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Strong business acumen with a high level of enthusiasm, professionalism and ethical standards
