Our Africa cluster is seeking a Managing Director – Djibouti to join our team in Africa, based in Djibouti, Djibouti. In this position you will

  • Drive strategic and commercial operations of the Inchcape businesses in Djibouti, owning the overall P&L.
  • Reporting to the Managing Director Africa, proactively work in close collaboration with the Africa leadership team and the local management team to drive sustainable and transformational growth of the businesses to meet / exceed the expectations of all key stakeholders.
  • Communicate, engage and energize teams around Inchcape growth ambition, annual performance targets and OEM strategic direction that meets and exceeds emerging and existing customer needs.
  • Develop and embed compelling marketing, sales and customer service / customer experience ethos that is second to none and that builds a genuine differentiation in the markets and ensures the growth of customer recruitment, retention and satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all operations and processes are cost effective and optimized and in line with Inchcape’s InControl standards including sound financial controls, workplace health, wellbeing, security & safety as well as full implementation of Inchcape’s sustainability agenda
  • Ensures high level of employee engagement through standardized  management practices, talent development and motivational programs
  • Coach and develop colleagues ensuring skills, knowledge of products and processes is maximized across the team holistically.
  • Leads and cascades a customer focused culture, promote activities that aim to retain and grow company customer base and ensure high satisfaction rates.
  • Provides clear financial and operational picture of the company operations to top management
  • Ensures that all required reporting and supportive documents are duly and timely available for OEMs, financial and managing teams of the company.

About you

To be successful in this role you would need:

  • >15 years of managerial positions experience, preferably in Multinational environment, with a proven track record for strong leadership capabilities and consistent performance numbers delivery.  Experience of having directly and successfully lead commercial, profitable, growth-oriented enterprise(s) or company or business unit(s) is mandatory for this role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a relevant field preferably within business/business management/Engineering. Postgraduate degree would be an added advantage
  • Strong Financial and Business acumen
  • Effective team leader and builder - proven ability and experiences in team leadership. More than 10 years’ people management experience is a requirement.
  • Able to demonstrate success in leading across cultures including in leading senior teams and leading broader teams for success. Cross functional Team management experience
  • Demonstrable experience in the development and execution of outstanding sales, marketing, customer management and digitization programs based on market, customer and consumer insights.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact and influence with wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively build and manage interpersonal relationships
  • Experience in change and project management processes and to orchestrate solutions and prioritization to business issues.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and skills to influence key stakeholders to take business versus functional decisions.
  • Uncompromised commitment to compliance, ethical practices, good governance and integrity track record. 
  • Ability to take tough decisions and act independently in a complex and tight environment.
