JOB SUMMARY
The Foreman is responsible for supervising daily workshop operations, providing advanced technical leadership, and ensuring all repair and maintenance work is performed in accordance with manufacturer standards, high‑voltage safety requirements, and customer expectations.
This role has a strong focus on electric vehicle (EV) platforms, including high‑voltage systems, battery technology, power electronics, vehicle software, ADAS, and connected vehicle systems. The Foreman plays a key role in driving workshop productivity, repair quality, compliance, and the continuous development of technicians as automotive technology evolves toward electrification and intelligent vehicles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Workshop Supervision & Operations

Supervise and coordinate daily EV workshop activities

Allocate diagnostic, repair, and maintenance jobs based on technician competency, HV certification level, and workload
-
Monitor job progress and ensure ontime completion aligned with customer commitments
-
Coordinate workshop resources for EV servicing, including HV‑designated bays and tools
2. EV Technical Support & Quality Control
-
Provide advanced technical support for complex EV diagnostics and repairs, including:
-
High‑voltage battery systems
-
Power electronics (inverters, DC‑DC converters, onboard chargers)
-
Electric drive units and thermal management systems
-
Support diagnostics of vehicle software, CAN/LIN networks, communication faults, and OTA‑related issues
-
Assist technicians in diagnosing ADAS, sensor systems (radar, cameras), and intelligent driving features
-
Conduct final inspection and validation checks before vehicle release
-
Reduce repeat repairs and comebacks through effective quality control and root‑cause analysis
3. Productivity & Performance Monitoring
-
Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, attendance, and job quality
-
Improve workflow, bay utilization, and EV service turnaround time
-
Coordinate closely with Service Advisors on job status, technical findings, and delivery timelines
-
Optimize EV diagnostic processes to minimize down‑time and rework
4. Warranty, Compliance & Documentation
-
Ensure all repairs comply with warranty policies, technical bulletins, and repair procedures
-
Verify correct fault diagnosis, test plans, and rectification steps for warranty claims
-
Ensure accurate and complete documentation of:
-
Diagnostic reports
-
High‑voltage isolation certificates
-
Battery and software fault logs
-
Ensure use of approved parts, tools, software systems, and repair methods
5. Training & Team Development (EV Focus)
-
Mentor, coach, and guide technicians and apprentices in EV systems
-
Assess technician competency in HV safety levels, diagnostics, and software usage
-
Identify EV‑specific training needs and support certification development
-
Promote a culture of continuous learning, safety awareness, and technical excellence
-
Support knowledge sharing on new models, updates, and technologies
6. Safety, EV Handling & Housekeeping
-
Enforce workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures
-
Strictly enforce high‑voltage safety protocols, including:
-
Lock‑out/tag‑out procedures
-
HV PPE usage
-
Battery handling and storage requirements
-
Ensure proper use and maintenance of EV‑specific tools and diagnostic equipment
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe EV workshop environment
7. EV Technical Capability & Workshop Readiness
-
Support diagnosis and repair of:
-
High‑voltage battery packs and modules
-
Charging systems (AC/DC, fast charging)
-
Power distribution and energy management systems
-
Maintain EV workshop readiness, including:
-
HV tooling and insulated equipment
-
Diagnostic software and calibration tools
-
Emergency response and safety equipment
-
Stay up to date with EV technologies, OTA updates, intelligent driving systems, and manufacturer guidelines
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education
-
Certificate or Diploma in Automotive Technology, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent vocational qualification
-
EV or High‑Voltage Systems certification is a strong advantage
Experience
-
Minimum 5–7 years experience as an automotive technician
-
At least 2–3 years experience as a Foreman, Senior Technician, or Team Leader
-
Dealership experience with EV or technology‑driven brands preferred
-
Hands‑on experience with EV diagnostics, high‑voltage systems, or software‑based vehicles
