Job Summary:
As a GL team lead/ GL analyst, you will lead a team of GL accountants and oversee and ensure the integrity of the company’s general ledger function, driving accurate and timely financial reporting in line with company policies and accounting standards. This role involves managing complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and leading month-end and year-end closing processes. You will play a pivotal role in financial reporting, analysis, and compliance, working in a dynamic global business environment. You will also have responsibility for process improvements and cross-functional collaboration, supporting the broader finance team in achieving organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the team of GL accountants and support them in daily activities
- maintenance and continuous improvement of the company’s general ledger in the ERP system, ensuring accurate and timely posting of routine and non-routine journal entries.
- Take ownership of general ledger integrity and coordinate closely with other finance functions to resolve any issues.
- Manage the reconciliation & clearing process for balance sheet accounts monthly, ensuring all discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved.
- Lead the preparation and execution of the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring that all necessary journal entries, adjustments, and accruals are recorded with precision and within deadlines.
- Participate in the preparation of financial statements and ensure they comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
- Manage the preparation of internal and external financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring that reports are both timely and accurate.
- Lead efforts to ensure full compliance with internal financial controls, company policies, and local and international regulatory requirements, including IFRS and GAAP.
- Monitor the integrity and accuracy of financial records and ensure alignment with global accounting practices.
- Identify, lead, and implement process improvements within the general ledger function, focusing on automation, optimization, and streamlining workflows.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or professional qualification such as CPA or ACCA preferred).
4+ years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, or a senior financial operations role.
Proven track record of leading complex general ledger activities and financial reporting functions.
Extensive experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced financial reporting tools.
Deep understanding of accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and financial reporting processes.
Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and reconciliation.
Strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines, particularly during month-end and year-end close.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvements and efficiencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a multi-national or global business environment.
Exposure to automation tools (e.g., RPA) or experience with advanced GL-related software.
