Deputy Company Secretary

Date: 15 Sept 2026

Location: London, GB

Company: inchcape

Do you want to lead in a dynamic business that's transforming global automotive distribution?

At Inchcape, we’re pursuing an exciting strategy to evolve our global business and accelerate our industry towards a low-carbon, sustainable future.

Join Inchcape Group HQ, part of Inchcape’s global network. You’ll play an important role in supporting effective corporate governance across a FTSE-listed global organisation, working closely with senior leaders, Board members and stakeholders across the business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a governance professional looking to take the next step in their career. Beyond the core company secretarial responsibilities, the role offers significant exposure to Board and Committee activity, strategic corporate projects and Group-wide governance initiatives. It has been created to develop future capability within the function and provides a clear pathway towards a more senior Company Secretary role over time.

What You'll Do

  • Take ownership of subsidiary governance activities across the Group, ensuring company records, governance processes and statutory obligations are managed accurately and effectively.
  • Support Board and Committee governance activities, including meeting preparation, governance reporting, Board paper management and Director onboarding.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of AGM activities and shareholder communications, working closely with the Registrar and other key stakeholders.
  • Support regulatory filings, market disclosures and governance compliance requirements, helping ensure continued adherence to applicable governance frameworks.
  • Play a key role in the preparation and future ownership of the Governance section of the Annual Report & Accounts.
  • Support strategic corporate transactions and governance projects, including restructurings, acquisitions, disposals and share buybacks.
  • Build strong working relationships across Group functions, market legal teams and external advisers globally.
  • Support the development of governance policies, procedures and compliance initiatives across the Group.
  • Contribute to future transformation projects and process improvements that strengthen governance effectiveness across Inchcape.
  • Act as a trusted governance partner, helping to maintain high standards of corporate governance and compliance across the organisation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • Membership of the Chartered Governance Institute (or an equivalent recognised company secretarial qualification).
  • Experience working within a listed company or similarly regulated governance environment.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance and company secretarial best practice.
  • Experience supporting Boards, Committees and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and project management capability, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage effectively with senior leaders, Board members and external advisers.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with a genuine interest in improving governance processes and contributing beyond core responsibilities.
  • High levels of integrity, judgement and attention to detail.

We Offer You

This role offers exposure to senior leaders, Board members and high-profile governance activities, alongside the opportunity to build capability across Annual Report & Accounts activity, subsidiary governance and strategic corporate projects. It provides a strong platform for future progression within Company Secretariat and Governance.
