Role Purpose:

Works under Service Technician / supervisor to provide automotive services by performing inspections, repairs, maintenance, and installations efficiently, safely, and according to JLR’s/BMW quality and time standards. Complies with JLR /BMW and dealership’s safety and environmental programs and practices. Automotive services may include, but are not limited to drivability, suspensions, alignments, steering, heating and air conditioning, basic and ABS brakes, and exhaust systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all time spent on jobs and materials used are accurately recorded on job cards
  • Works carefully to avoid accidental damage to self, vehicles and components during work activities
  • Seek to minimize wastage of all materials, oils and fluids by careful use and encouraging careful use by others
  • Correctly uses and cares for all machinery, equipment and hand tools issued, belonging to the business, and avoids misuse of the same. Advise others on safe and proper use of equipment and correct interpretation of data.
  • Conducts hoist inspection every day before starting work
  • Completes repair orders within specified time frame and ensures they pass quality inspections. Alerts appropriate personnel to conduct quality inspections and road test, if delayed.
  • Coordinates with Parts Department to ensure parts are available to complete repair.
  • Completes warranty and technical campaigns work in line with the OEM documented instructions and documents as required by OEM
  • Writes, reviews and evaluates service write-up for customers, warranty and technical campaigns to determine if additional information is necessary and what type of diagnosis is needed or have been carried out as per the OEM requirements
  • Properly disposes of used parts and returns unused parts to the Parts Counterperson

Promotes dealership by presenting professional image, positive attitude, and clean work area

Requirements:

  • Performs preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on dealership tools and equipment; ensures facility is clean and organized at all times.
  • Performs factory warranty repairs according to established procedures.
  • Follows all hazardous waste and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Utilizes JLR/BMW -provided technical assistance (e.g., Technical Bulletins, Hotlines, other)
  • Stays up to date on the latest technical services through training, bulletins, campaigns, etc.
  • Acquires necessary training as required.
  • Uses diagnostic procedure to identify the symptoms of the problem, the conditions under which they occur,

  • Automotive Diploma/degree
  • NITA accredited certification in automotive engineering
  • Certificate/Grade test in automotive engineering
