About us:

As a distributor, we take responsibility for a brand in a given market. This means managing vehicles and parts on behalf of an OEM from the factory gate or port, and then taking care of every part of the value chain, from logistics to sales to end users. We also provide Value Added Services for customers throughout the lifecycle of a vehicle.

About the role:

The Product Engineer – LCV & Light Trucks provides technical expertise across OEM brands in Australia and New Zealand, ensuring product compliance, supporting aftersales, and aiding product launches.

Responsibilities:

· Set engineering direction and ensure compliance for OEM brands in Australia and New Zealand, in collaboration with the Head of Product Engineering.

· Apply expert knowledge of Australian vehicle regulations, including design rules, heavy vehicle laws, and New Zealand inspection and quality standards, to advise manufacturers and Inchcape on compliance across both markets.

· Act as primary engineering liaison with OEMs, focusing on NEV readiness, technical standards, and fostering strong collaborative relationships.

· Support homologation, regulatory testing, and vehicle adaptation for local market needs, including accessory programs and model launches.

· Provide advanced diagnostic and engineering support to aftersales, dealer networks, and field teams, resolving complex vehicle issues and warranty concerns.

· Drive a culture of compliance, customer focus, and continuous improvement, aligning OEM strategies with market expectations and distributor agreements.

About you:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); LR or MR class driver’s licence.

· Solid understanding of automotive systems (powertrain, chassis, electrical, HVAC, safety), ADRs, regulatory testing, and how Australian and international standards align with New Zealand regulations.

· Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and customer focus; excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to inspire, influence, and manage conflict; high energy and self-motivation.

· Experience with NEVs, hybrids, or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems; exposure to product launches or field engineering; flexibility to travel and work outside regular hours.
