Purpose of Role:
The L1 Security Engineer plays a key role in supporting security operations by managing security tools, handling operational incidents, automating routine security tasks and vulnerability management. This role provides an opportunity to work closely with Senior Security professionals and gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity.
Job Role and Responsibilities:
Platform and Services
• Assist in managing and maintaining security tools.
• Handle first-level security tools’ service requests and operational incidents and escalate as needed.
• Support automation of security processes and service requests.
• Where required, assist the SOC team with security investigations, ensuring a swift response and escalation
• Work alongside with the SOC Team to enhance security operations.
• Continuously learn and develop security skills to grow within the role.
Vulnerability Management
• Assist in configuring and running basic vulnerability scans for the Inchcape network under supervision.
• Support the maintenance of vulnerability reports & dashboards, ensuring data is accurate and up-to-date.
• Help in assessing vulnerabilities by gathering data and documenting findings.
• Assist in assessing new vulnerabilities to determine risk-posed to Inchcape and work with wider IT teams to coordinate remediation efforts.
• Gain hands-on experience in vulnerability management by working closely with L2 and Senior Engineers.
Qualifications:
• 1+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or a related field.
• Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, firewalls, and endpoint protection.
• Basic knowledge of vulnerability management, including running scans and assisting with remediation tracking.
• Basic scripting knowledge or willingness to learn (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Power Automate, Power BI, etc.).
• Understanding of security fundamentals, incident response, and monitoring.
• Certifications like Security+ or relevant IT certifications are a plus.
