Purpose of Role:

 

The L2 Security Engineer is responsible for managing security tools, responding to operational incidents, and supporting automation efforts. This role involves working closely with the SOC team and other security professionals to enhance detection, alerting, and response capabilities. Additionally, the role includes assisting in handling security incidents when needed.
 

Job Role and Responsibilities:

 

 

Platform and Services:

  • Manage and maintain security tools, ensuring effective operations.
  • Responsible for automating security incident handling and service requests.
  • Take a lead role in identifying and managing P1/P0 security operational incidents, ensuring swift and effective response.
  • Collaborate with the GRC team to help ensure security issues related to controls are addressed effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Support SOC Team in investigating and responding to security incidents.
  • Monitor and fine-tune security alerts to improve accuracy and response time.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Level 1 Security Engineer.
  • Collaborate with other teams to implement security best practices.

Vulnerability Management:

  • Manage and run vulnerability scans for the Inchcape network, ensuring scan schedules and configurations align with security policies.
  • Create and maintain vulnerability reports & dashboards, providing actionable insights to security and IT teams.
  • Assess vulnerabilities by analysing scan results and assisting in risk determination.
  • Assess new vulnerabilities to determine risk-posed to Inchcape and work with wider IT teams to coordinate remediation efforts.
  • Support process improvements and automation initiatives for vulnerability management.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity operations, engineering, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience with security tools like SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of vulnerability management, including running scans, interpreting results, and working with IT teams for remediation.
  • Basic to intermediate scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Power Automate, Power BI, etc).
  • Strong understanding of security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response.
  • Knowledge of cloud and network security fundamentals.
  • Security certifications (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CEH) are preferred.
