Responsibilities
Lead, develop and motivate the Parts team
- Lead the Parts team by personally demonstrating and encouraging team members to demonstrate the TATA Customer First Behaviours in all interactions with customers and colleagues. 3S,2S,1S
- Ensure the Parts team works closely with colleagues in Service, Sales and Administration to deliver outstanding customer service
- Establish and monitor the team’s training requirements to ensure the required level of skill and expertise is available
- Implement performance management, coaches and develops the team to improve performance
- Select and appoint new team members including apprentices and ensures they are equipped with the required skills and training
Drive performance to achieve key targets and deliver continuous improvement
- Manage the day to day operations of the Parts department to ensure the achievement of key targets
- Maintain agreed profit margins and return on investment by selling the maximum amount of parts to trade and retail customers
- Maintain an efficient parts service to other departments within the Dealership
- Analyse sales data to place emphasis on selling the most profitable lines
- Monitor customer activity and amends discounts where necessary
- Monitor customer credit and ensures action is taken to recover due payments
- Implement systems to monitor and record lost sales, reviews data and takes appropriate action
- Maintain stock levels, purchasing within agreed budgets
- Control and meets budgetary spending targets, discussing significant variations with the relevant Managers/Dealer Principal
- Monitor stock overheads and stock values, reporting any which exceed the budget to the Dealer Principal
- Analyse current procedures and identifies opportunities for improvement
- Ensure the Parts team follows procedures and records all transactions, liaising with other departments as required
- Manage and Monitoring inventory and Parts distribution with delivery supplier.
- Manage and Monitoring damage parts return from dealers and customers.
Develop the Parts business within the Dealership
- Assist the Dealer Principal to formulate parts sales strategy and policy
- Develop a successful trade parts operation as part of the Dealership strategy
- Identify and pursues new business opportunities
- Initiate, plan and promote parts sales events and contributes to the Dealerships annual marketing strategy
- Maximise customer satisfaction at all times and ensures absolute clarity in all customer transactions
- Take responsibility for the management of major accounts, identifying how customer service can be further improved
- Receive training and gain competence in the stock control systems used
- Receive training and maintain best practice in manual handling methods
- Receive training and coaching in professional sales techniques in selling parts and accessories
Work as a full member of the team
- Work with colleagues and other teams across the Dealership to deliver improvements and provide a seamless service to customers
- Use feedback to improve skills and performance of self and the Parts team
- Understand and follows relevant TATA Operational Guidelines
- Ensure opportunities for sales by other teams are followed up by the appropriate colleague
- Ensure the Parts team adheres to legal, environmental and health and safety requirements while ensuring the safety and security of people, vehicles and property at all times reporting any known faults or hazards
Other duties
Any other duties as and when required by senior company managers that are reasonably within the capabilities of the person and are aimed at achieving the company’s objectives and goals.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in any field
- At least 5 year experience in Automotive parts and Parts Inventory management
- At least 2 year experience in Supervisor role
- Good verbal & written English
- Good MS Office, especially Excel
- Auto line or similar application is preferable
- Numeracy and literacy to a level adequate to deal with parts documentation.
- Ability to identify parts from parts catalogues, microcat and electronic media to meet customer requests
- Understand vehicle make-up to enable related and additional parts required to be advised to customers
- Capability to demonstrate a professional service to customers.
