Job Summary

ICATS British Motors Inc. is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales Manager to lead our dealership sales operations. The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving vehicle sales performance, achieving profitability targets, developing a high-performing sales team, and delivering exceptional customer experiences in line with premium automotive standards.

This role requires a strong leader with extensive dealership sales experience, excellent people management skills, and a proven track record in achieving sales and customer satisfaction goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the Sales Team to achieve individual and dealership objectives.
  • Promote and model customer-first behaviors in all interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Foster strong collaboration between Sales, Service, Parts, and Administration teams.
  • Identify training and development needs and ensure team members maintain the required competencies.
  • Conduct performance management, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
  • Effectively allocate resources to maximize performance during promotional campaigns and peak sales periods.

Sales Performance and Profitability Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Sales Department.
  • Set, monitor, and achieve new and used vehicle sales and profitability targets.
  • Ensure the team maintains comprehensive knowledge of vehicle products, promotions, and marketing programs.
  • Review and approve vehicle trade-ins, part exchanges, and used vehicle purchases.
  • Manage preparation, repair, and presentation standards for new and used vehicle inventory.
  • Approve customer discounts, goodwill gestures, and commercial arrangements within established guidelines.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and CLP results and develop action plans to improve performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales and manufacturer data.
  • Manage vehicle inventory to maximize profitability and stock return on investment.
  • Maintain agreed stock turnover targets and align inventory levels with sales demand.
  • Monitor departmental sales performance, finance penetration, commission levels, and outstanding debtor balances.
  • Review pricing structures, discounts, and trade-in valuations to maintain profitability.
  • Ensure all sales administration, documentation, and recordkeeping are completed accurately and on time.
  • Continuously improve sales processes and systems to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Sales Operations and Customer Experience

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with manufacturers and dealer partners.
  • Develop and execute marketing activities for new vehicle launches and pre-owned vehicle promotions.
  • Ensure showroom and sales areas are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Lead initiatives designed to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Support the Dealer Principal in vehicle ordering, stock management, and inventory planning.
  • Assist in maintaining an optimal model mix to meet customer demand and business objectives.

Dealership Collaboration and Compliance

  • Partner with the Dealer Principal in developing sales strategies and policies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to provide a seamless customer journey.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of customer concerns and complaints.
  • Encourage continuous improvement through feedback, coaching, and development.
  • Adhere to all manufacturer operational guidelines and dealership policies.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Promote and maintain the safety and security of employees, customers, vehicles, and dealership property.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive automotive sales experience.
  • At least 2 to 3 years in a leadership or management role within an automotive dealership.
  • Strong background in new and used vehicle sales management.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales volume, profitability, and customer satisfaction targets.
