About the role

As the Head of HSE Australasia, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the HSE culture across our operations in Australia and New Zealand. Reporting directly to the Regional HSE Director APAC, you will partner with senior management to mentor, guide, and ensure compliance with our global HSE standards. This senior leadership role requires a strategic thinker who can lead with influence, champion HSE initiatives, and foster a culture of safety and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will span across overseeing HSE systems, ensuring legislative compliance, mitigating risks, and managing workers’ compensation and injury management. You will be the key liaison between executive management and site-level operations, ensuring that HSE policies are implemented effectively and that our teams are empowered to maintain high safety standards.

Further to the above your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Collaborate with senior business leaders to drive HSE culture, ensuring alignment with global standards and regional strategic plans.
  • Systems Management: Oversee the implementation and integrity of the global HSE management system, ensuring compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Legislative Compliance: Stay abreast of HSE legislation, ensuring that our operations meet all regulatory requirements across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Risk Mitigation: Lead initiatives to identify, assess, and mitigate HSE risks, working closely with site management to ensure effective controls are in place.
  • Injury Management: Manage return-to-work programs, providing strategic advice on case management to minimize lost time injuries
  • Reporting: Present monthly HSE performance reports to executive management, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels.

About you

  • 8-10 years of experience in HSE, with a proven ability to influence and drive cultural change.
  • Strong experience in managing HSE systems, risk management, and compliance.
  • Proven track record in incident investigation and audit management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Formal qualifications in OHS or Environmental Management, with certifications in incident investigation and lead auditing.
