Are you an experienced lawyer with a keen eye for commercial law and a passion for providing practical, timely legal guidance? Inchcape Australasia, a leading player in the retail, logistics, and wholesale, is seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel -Operations to support its diverse business units.

 

As Legal Counsel Operations, you will play a key role in delivering highquality legal and compliance support across Inchcape’s retail, logistics, and sales & operations divisions. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying legal risks, advising on 

compliance matters, managing significant legal agreements, and ensuring all operations align with applicable laws, including competition law, privacy, and consumer protection.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Advising & Risk Management: Provide strategic legal advice and develop risk mitigation strategies across key business units, including retail, logistics, and financial services.
  • Contractual & Compliance Guidance: Oversee a wide range of legal matters, from supplier agreements to lease contracts, while ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Technology & Process Improvement: Implement innovative legal tech solutions to streamline operations and enhance service delivery within the Legal & Compliance team.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor a Legal Department Paralegal, providing development plans, KPI setting, and performance management.
  • Training & Communication: Deliver face-to-face training on key legal areas (Australian Consumer Law, Privacy Law) to teams and key stakeholders.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • A minimum of 8 years’ PAE in both private practice (corporate/commercial) and in-house legal roles, with experience in logistics and contract drafting. Expertise in Australian Consumer Law, Competition Law, Privacy Law, and Franchise Law is essential.
  • Strong management experience, with the ability to mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of commercial contracts, litigation management, and legal compliance, with experience working in the automotive or related industries a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, admitted to practice as a solicitor in NSW, and a valid driver’s license.
