SUMMARY

The Accounting Clerk compiles and maintains verified accounts payable records for newly acquired businesses. Reconciles statements and issues payment to vendors. Performs other accounting procedures as required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following.

 

  • Checks all vouchers and obtains appropriate payment approval.
  • Prepares accounts payable checks.
  • Posts all open items in accounts payable on a daily basis.
  • Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.
  • Prepares disbursements of payable checks.
  • Ensure that operational standard is reflected in the accounts payable functions
  • Spearhead the vehicle stock counts, dealer plate audits, and other audits as required
  • Answers all vendor inquiries
  • Prepares analysis of accounts, as required
  • Handle interdepartmental requests related to AP
  • Handle customer inquiries or complaints with integrity and poise and, when necessary, refer dissatisfied customers to the appropriate individuals for resolution
  • Cross-trains others for this position as directed by management.
  • Assists with related special projects as required
  • Maintains professional appearance and neat work area
  • Attends departmental meetings when necessary
  • Reports to work on time everyday as scheduled.

 

MARGINAL DUTIES: Other duties may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • AA or Bachelor’s in accounting (or equivalent work experience) preferred but not necessary.
  • 2-4 years of related accounting experience preferred, but not necessary
  • Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in excel
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to multi-task and have attention to detail

 

 

 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have valid Guam Driver’s License.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

  • Must be able to sit for long period of time; bend; lift; reach; and stand.
  • Must be able to lift 15 to 20 lbs. 
  • Administrative work requires working on a PC system 90% of the working day.
  •  Must be able to work under extreme pressure.
