SUMMARY
|
The Shop Foreman supervises and coordinates the day-to-day operations of the repair shop, ensuring that all repair work is completed to the highest quality standards, on time, and in compliance with safety regulations. This role includes overseeing technicians, assisting with difficult repairs, ensuring proper workflow management, conducting inspections, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The Shop Foreman is responsible for mentoring and training staff, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective leadership and collaboration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
|
- Assists technicians in developing their skills, facilitates and manages technical OEM training and support as necessary.
- Creates and posts work schedules and updates technicians on schedule changes and deadlines.
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures as subject matter experts
- Conducts weekly productivity/efficiency reviews with all technicians
- Holds technicians accountable for productivity/efficiency using corrective actions as necessary
- Advocates on behalf of technicians to Workshop Controller to ensure that all repairs are assigned in an equal and fair manner comparable to technician abilities while supporting company efficiency/productivity standards
- Verifies with Controller that repairs are charged out correctly and performs retraining/training as necessary when errors are found
- Holds technicians accountable to performance times on every RO.
- Coordinates with Controller immediately upon recognizing potential negative time impacts
- Demand the highest ethical standards from self and others
- Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality and performs road tests to validate if necessary
- Maintain ability to handle job stress and effective interaction with other in the workplace.
- Set an example of positive attitude and professionalism, including a neat, orderly and safe work environment.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, and local regulations that affect service operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, EPA regulations, and OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Conduct daily safety and security meetings with technicians and handles emergencies that arise
- Operate an effective waste management program to include the proper storage and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with local and federal regulations
- Maintains and conducts monthly inspection records for shop equipment/tools, Forklift, and inventory supplies
- Monitors and maintains a safe and clean workshop, including shop’s equipment’s non-electric, electric and air powered tools, torches, grinders, and presses. Contact outside repair service if the maintenance can’t be completed by a competent staff
- Reports problems to the service manager or director.
- Ensures the proper care, storage, and inventory of special tools.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Fills in for Workshop Controller when necessary
- Attends managers and departmental meetings as requested.
- Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments

QUALIFICATIONS
|
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience
- 5 years of experience as an automotive technician
- 2-3 years of experience shop foreman or personnel supervision
- Licensure
- Valid Guam Driver’s License
- ASE certification
