Our Finance team is seeking a Tax Manager for the Caribbean and Central America region to join our team.

 

In this position you will be responsible for leading, defining, and executing the tax strategy and compliance framework for the cluster (Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Barbados, and Puerto Rico).

 

The role is responsible for ensuring the group’s tax efficiency, mitigating fiscal risks, and managing regional compliance while providing strategic leadership to a direct report and acting as a key advisor for business expansion and regional operations.

 

What you’ll do

  • Regional Tax Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement tax-efficient structures and planning opportunities to optimize the regional tax burden and improve cash flow across 7 different jurisdictions. 
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure the accurate and timely filing of all direct and indirect tax returns (VAT, Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Taxes) across the cluster, maintaining a clean compliance record.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Directly manage and mentor the team members, overseeing their output and fostering their professional growth to ensure high-quality tax support for the region.
  • Tax Audit & Controversy Management: Lead the defense strategy and represent the company during tax audits or inquiries by local authorities, managing relationships with external tax advisors and legal counsel in each country.
  • Transfer Pricing Oversight: Supervise the preparation of regional transfer pricing studies and ensure intercompany transactions are properly documented.
  • Risk Management & Internal Control: Implement and monitor ICS Taxes to identify and mitigate operational and financial risks, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and local fiscal laws.
  • Strategic Business Advisory: Evaluate the tax implications of new business models, M&A, or changes in regional legislation to support senior management in decision-making.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Experience: 6 to 9 years of professional experience in tax management, with at least 3 years in regional roles covering Central America or the Caribbean.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Education: University degree in Accounting, Law, or Finance. A Master’s degree or professional certification in Taxation is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of the tax frameworks in the assigned cluster, including specific knowledge of Puerto Rico (US GAAP/Internal Revenue Code) and Caribbean jurisdictions.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERPs is expected.
  • Languages: Full professional proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
  • Core Competencies: Strategic thinking, high attention to detail, negotiation skills, and the ability to manage complex projects across multiple time zones and currencies.
