Job Title: Technician EV 

Reporting Line: Head of AFS 

Department: AFS

Job Summary 

 

The Technician is responsible for performing inspection, servicing, diagnostics, software updates, and repair of XPENG electric vehicles in accordance with technical standards, highvoltage safety requirements, and dealership policies. The role focuses on accurate diagnostics, quality workmanship, and safe handling of EV systems to ensure customer satisfaction and workshop efficiency. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  1. Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance 

  • Perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance on electric vehicles  

  • Conduct vehicle inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, or softwarerelated issues  

  • Carry out repairs and replacement of EV components as required 

 

  1. Diagnostics & Repair 

  • Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools, software systems, and service manuals  

  • Perform repairs on highvoltage systems, battery packs, electric motors, power electronics, and vehicle electronics  

  • Carry out vehicle software updates, calibrations, and system resets as required  

  • Perform ADAS checks and calibrations when applicable  

  • Conduct road tests and system checks before and after repairs 

 

  1. Quality & Documentation 

  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety, and highvoltage procedures  

  • Complete repair orders accurately, including diagnostic results and repair details  

  • Reduce repeat repairs by applying correct diagnostic and repair processes 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Workshop Coordination 

  • Receive and follow job instructions from the Foreman or Job Controller  

  • Communicate technical findings and additional repair requirements clearly  

  • Coordinate with Parts department to ensure correct parts usage and replacements 

 

 

  1. Tools, Equipment & Housekeeping 

  • Use EVspecific tools, insulated equipment, and diagnostic devices correctly  

  • Maintain personal tools and workshop equipment in good condition  

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area 

  •  

  1. Safety & Compliance 

  • Strictly follow highvoltage EV safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements  

  • Comply with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations  

  • Participate in technical, EV safety, and OEM training programs as required 

 

 

Qualification Requirements: 

 

Relevant Work Experience 

Minimum Experience: 

  • 2–3 years experience as an Automotive Technician, EV Technician, or Hybrid Technician 

  • Experience working in an authorized dealership or professional automotive workshop 

  • EV / Advanced Vehicle Experience (Preferred): 

  • 1–2 years working with Hybrid or Electric Vehicles 

  • Exposure to high voltage systems, EV diagnostics, or battery-related repairs 

  • Experience using OEM diagnostic tools and performing software updates / calibrations 

 

Practical exposure to:  

  • High voltage safety procedures 

  • EV diagnostics and fault tracing 

  • Battery system inspection or replacement 

  • Electric motors, inverters, and power electronics 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Advanced / Senior Technician Level (Advantage): 

  • 4–5 years total automotive technician experience 

  • Proven ability to perform complex diagnostics, ADAS calibration, and repeat-fault reduction 

  • Experience mentoring junior technicians or supporting workshop technical troubleshooting 

 

🎓 Core Certifications 

  • Automotive Technician Certification (National / Institute-based) 

  • OEM Certification (e.g., Toyota, Lexus, other brands etc.) 

  • Electrical & Diagnostics Certification 

  • EV Technology, Mechatronics or related technical field 

 

🔧 Preferred / Advanced Certifications 

  • Hybrid / EV system certification 

  • Advanced diagnostics (CAN bus, ECU programming) 

  • Air-conditioning service certification 

 

 

Capability Requirements:  

 

  1. Technical Capability 

  • Understanding of electric vehicle systems, including batteries, motors, inverters, and vehicle electronics 

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, fault codes, diagnostic logs, and software alerts 

  • Familiarity with ADAS systems and electronic control units 

  • Competency in using OEM diagnostic and software update tools

  • OEM technical and safety certification (preferred / required as per dealer policy)  

  • Automotive trade certification (if required by local authority)  

  • Workplace safety training as required by local regulations
