Purpose of role

Partner the JLR NE Leadership Team & co-pilot with the JLR Cluster MD to deliver the growth aspirations of the strategic plan, delivered through organic and bolt on acquisitions along with new contract wins.

 

The JLR cluster sits within the Northern Europe (NE) cluster, the largest business unit in the region, with 2025 revenues of over £1Bn delivered through both distribution and retail activities across several markets - Poland, Baltics, Finland

 

The JLR JV cluster is responsible for all JLR distribution activities across Poland, Baltics and Finland and will also be the finance lead in the JV boards representing the business. Turnover £330m, PBT £11m (c70% of total NE PBT). It is also responsible for all procurement activities and initiatives within NE.

 

The Finance Director will be a key member of the LT, playing an important role in setting the business strategy, driving performance management and communication of results as well as steering the local business with the highest levels of integrity and controls to ensure sustainability. The seniority of this role also offers the opportunity to deputise for the NE FD

 

The key priorities of the role include

 

Protecting Value

Ensuring a strong control environment

Managing the relationships with government agencies, internal and external audit

Responsibility for treasury and tax, working alongside the group teams to minimise risk along with reducing the WACC and ETR for the cluster

Managing all NE procurement activities and leading the function

 

Driving sustainable value

Driving proactive insights and robust challenge to the MD and LT to deliver financial and wider business results in the short, medium and long term

Own the planning and forecasting processes, ensuring the right choices and trade-offs to optimise capital allocation and value creation

Accountable for all new business cases, working with the group to gain the capital and support required to deliver the strategic plan

Continue to drive finance transformation activities for efficiency and effectiveness

Job role and responsibilities:

1

Advise, support and prompt business at a strategic level to create and implement the business growth plan.

Build effective relationships and networking practices with all key stakeholders: e.g., Business leadership, OEM partners, Group functions, GBS.

Lead effective strategic and operational financial planning, forecasting, and analysis in and for the local business.

Manage cash balance, working capital, investments, and other liquidity-related decisions in line with Group standards.

Identify the strategic, operational, financial and compliance risks, proactively address management team on needed actions and drive or support agreed actions as required.

Ensure robust governance and compliance, including but not limited to internal controls and reporting, is in accordance with local regulations, Group and OEM requirements.

Lead, develop and effectively manage direct reports / finance team.

Partner effectively with 3rd party providers, particularly GBS, ensuring that financial activities are carried our effectively and seamlessly at local level in line with legal, regional and Group requirements.

Develop and deliver local and Group transformation and efficiency projects.

Manage the Legal and Procurement activities.

Key member of the NE JLR leadership team & copilot with the  MD to deliver against strategic ambitions. (Accelerate +)

 

skills and Experience required:

1

Experience in leading a finance team in a senior finance position, with end to end FD responsibilities

2

Strong financial acumen, extensive financial experience in a large organization or group of companies

3

Experience in leading change a strong advantage

4

High levels of emotional intelligence. Exceptional leadership skills (measured as Inchcape values, motivating & communicating, people development, strategic capability, commercial awareness, performance delivery)

Ability to quickly build trusted relationships at all levels of the organization

Able to take decisions and act independently in an undefined and busy environment

Strong communication skills both verbal and written.

Solid experience of working in a matrix organization, managing multiple stakeholder relationships and priorities.
